Philosophy of Design

“First and foremost, the foundation of good design is the appropriate placement of spaces and furnishings which are functional to one’s lifestyle and purpose and exist in harmony with each other. 

All homes, large or small, should speak to our emotional needs. There should be a sense of drama that excites us and a place of refuge to nurture and inspire our souls.

My goal is to help my clients discover and develop their own personal style and interject it with a keen sense of scale, proportion and balance.  Architectural detail, points of interest, color, lighting and juxtaposition, all work together to create a space that moves us. 

I am particularly fond of the ‘yin-yang’ of design, that unexpected accent… contemporary with traditional, formal with informal, rough texture with smooth . . . yet it still transitions in the overall continuity of the space. This continuity should also flow into the surrounding outdoor living  area, being an extension of the same guiding principles employed in the home.

Good design does not always equate with the amount of money spent, rather its how all the elements are put together . . . and sometimes what is edited out.”
